No competition, its got to be the Canon
Nikon is a lower spec. than the 40D, D300 would be a step up from the canon though.
Sony? Now if your looking for an MP3 player perhaps you should give Sony a try, but as for cameras, don’t forget that you are buying into a camera system (lenses etc)

I have bought Nikon D60 because i read in lot of blogs saying its the camera which gives the best output with little knowledge and effort.
